Doll's House Diary - Part 1
Soooooooo if you follow me on Insta you’ll know since erm, June (ish) I embarked on what I thought would be a cute, quick, little project, the restoration of my childhood dolls house. I hadn’t realised how much I’d neglected it, and the poor old thing was in a sorry old state when I collected it from my Mum’s house on a sunny Saturday in June.
The paint work was damaged, the roof was hanging off, the inside looked sad and tired, one of the rooms even had a pink fur carpet (yum) …
This little doll’s house means so much to me, I mean I’m quite a sentimental person anyway, but I was given this present by my mum, grandma and grandad when I was maybe 6/7 years old. It’s was already 2nd hand and together they had cleaned, decorated and lovingly restored the little house ready for it’s new keeper. ME. So I really didn’t want to have to gut it so much, but unfortunately it was necessary.
I knew straight away that the job was bigger than I first anticipated… It broke my heart to have to remove the roof, the lovely Tudor panelling from the front and the tired old pink wallpaper from inside.
After a day of stripping, cleaning and sanding the poor old house was a shell, 4 wooden walls, no roof.
Sad but excited, I started to plan the new look house.
